Scott R. Chadwick graduated from East Hartford High School in 1980. He received his B.A., cum laude, from Western New England College and his J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law. During law school, Attorney Chadwick served as a law clerk in the Office of General Counsel, Office of the Secretary of Defense, in The Pentagon, Washington, D.C. He is admitted to practice law in the State of Connecticut and the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut. Attorney Chadwick is a member of the American Bar Association, Connecticut Bar Association, Hartford County Bar Association, American Association for Justice, and Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association.

Attorney Chadwick has litigation experience in the areas of premises liability, automobile and general liability, and general insurance defense and subrogation matters, as well as workers' compensation proceedings. Attorney Chadwick also represents municipalities in various litigation matters, as well as the collective bargaining process, including salary and insurance negotiation, mediation and arbitration, grievance issues and proceedings, and related labor matters. He also has extensive experience in the prosecution and defense of assessment (tax) appeals, representing both municipalities and property owners.

Attorney Chadwick has experience in both bench and jury trials in the State of Connecticut. He has represented individuals, small businesses, and major corporations in numerous civil hearings, arbitrations, and trials. Attorney Chadwick has also successfully appeared and argued before both the Appellate Court and Supreme Court of the State of Connecticut.

From 1997 to 2006, Attorney Chadwick served as Chairman of the East Hartford Board of Assessment Appeals. In January, 2000, he was appointed to the Board of Directors of East Hartford School/Business Partnerships, Inc. and serves as its Legal Counsel. From 2002 to 2006, he served as its Chairperson. In September, 2001, Attorney Chadwick was appointed to the Board of Directors of the East Hartford Chamber of Commerce and serves as its Legal Counsel. From 2003 to 2006, Attorney Chadwick also served as Chamber President. He has also served on the East Hartford Economic Development Commission.

In 2006, Attorney Chadwick was appointed Corporation Counsel for the Town of East Hartford by former Mayor Melody Currey, and continues to serve under current Mayor Marcia Leclerc. In addition to his responsibilities as Corporation Counsel, Attorney Chadwick continues to handle the Town's automobile and general liability defense work.

On November 19, 2014, Attorney Chadwick was sworn in as the tenth Judge of Probate for the District of East Hartford.
